***** Welcome to Squeez ! *****
*******************************************************************************

Squeez is a 32bit application that runs under Win95 or WinNT 4.0 (or higher).
It does not run under Win3.x and Win32s or WinNT 3.51.

What is Squeez, what does it do ?
-------------------------------------------------
Squeez is a multifuntional program package to create and organize ARJ-, LHA and
ZIP-archives. Because of its new compressing and decompressing modules it offers
almost the same compression ratio but runs up to 100 percent faster than the original
archivers. It let you also create and handle multivolume and selfextracting archives.

You may handle and create archives in two different ways:

One way way is to use Squeez itself. Squeez is a MDI-application. It opens per archive
one window. You may compress or decompress archives via Drag&Drop, via Clipboard or in
the traditional way using dialogs etc. You may copy files from one archive into another,
even between different archive types.

The second way needs a special explanation. Squeez creates on your Desktop a virtual
folder called "Squeez It". This folder appears also in the Explorer. Via Drag&Drop you
can move archives into this special folder. Squeez creates in the root of all fixed disk
drives a hidden folder called "Squeezed", in which you will find the archives. Because
of the use of these special folders archives are treated like directories and are also
available in the Explorer Directory Tree. You can create archives via Drag&Drop onto
"Squeez It" or via "Send To". Uncompressing is possible from inside the Explorer, too.

File Viewer
---------------
Squeez integrates the QuickViewer of Windows 95 / NT 4.0 and Quick View Plus.

It offers also some own filters for the file types listed below:

 - Bitmap (BMP, DIB)
 - PaintBrush PCX (PCX)
 - JPEG (JPG)
 - TIFF Baseline (TIF)
 - Kodak Photo CD (PCD)
 - Metafiles (WMF, EMF)
 - MCI Dateien (WAV, MID, AVI and other installed MCI-Extensions)
 - raw text files

The file "Filter.Ini" contains the settings for the filters for the different file types.
This file is located in

  <C:\Program Files\Shared Files\SpeedProject\Filter>

In the section [Default] you will find the extension together with the assigned
filter. A semicolon at the beginning of a row deactivates a viewer. If a file type
is not assigned with a viewer, Squeez will use its default user to let you view
this file type. The default viewer can be deactivated by a semicolon, too.

At first Squeez is looking into the file "Filter.Ini" to decide wether it shall use its
own filters or the QuickView of Windows 95 / NT 4.0 or Quick View Plus.

IMPORTANT: The use of a default viewer in the file "Filter.Ini" disables the QuickView
of Windows 95 / NT 4.0 or Quick View Plus inside Squeez.
